I would argue that friend accounts are the closest thing to a free trial, and, in my opinion, the best way of going about giving free trials.

If you don't want to pay for it don't, but don't pretend like there isn't a cost to running and owning servers. It takes time, money and effort to run one server, let alone the many that he has set up. $5 is a fair trade off for that since he has no other way of running these servers without support. He already allows friend accounts which is more then I would offer on a alpha release and he's explicitly stated why he's doing things the way they are. If your still angry about this your either ignorant or stupid. He's already given a "pay at your own risk" statement and warned people not to pay if they want a finished product.

How much does a cinema ticket cost? How about a pint of beer at the pub/bar?

Even if you only get a couple hours enjoyment out of the alpha, it'll still be well worth the 3 euro, and if you don't even get that, 3 euro is an absolute pittance.

Normaly i would agree with all the people who say "We shouldent have to pay for an alpha"

But, in this case - this is being run by a SINGLE PERSON. he could not POSSIBLY afford to have these servers running without some financial help.

i Gladly payed the 5$ to help out an Independant game producer.
and i will gladly do so next month, and the month after (as long as work is being done)

personaly, as a best case scenario - i would like for him to make enough to be able to quit his day job and fully focus on making this game.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that the post above you basically said that there is a free trial. I'm going to buy the game anyways, I was just playing the devils advocate. If no criticism is offered to a game then it never improves because the developer has no idea what to improve on.
