Sphere of influence

The Sphere of Influence (or SOI) is the area that belongs to a particular settlement. Within the SOI, tokens can be placed and edit tools can be used. Unbound players that walk into an SOI will automatically bind to the settlement. The Sphere of Influence is calculated by the tile angle. As a result, settlements are circular rather than spherical, so vertical distance from the monolith does not influence whether tools can be used or not.

Because there is a difference in tile angle variation in different parts of the world, placing a monolith on a corner of multiple pyrospheres will create a much larger Sphere of Influence, and a monolith in the centre of a pyroshpere will much a much smaller one.
