Binoculars equip like any other tool. While their slot is active the player's view will be zoomed in. Players will also be able to retrieve coordinates for locations further away than usual, so it is good for scouting out targets that are too far or awkward to easily reach.
A tip for making the binocular tool more effective is to type "<aim>" (without the quotes) into the chat window. Then make that line an action by clicking the square-with-a-corner-missing icon to the left of the chat line. This will place the action on your toolbar, like a stored coordinate or frequency. Hover your mouse over the action and press a key to bind it to the action. Then you can press that key while looking through the binoculars and it will print the coordinates you are looking at into the chat window, allowing you to easily store it. This trick does not require the binoculars to work.
