Config Tool Guide

To use the Config Tool, you must first equip it. Once that is done, you must walk up to the object you wish to edit. A black screen with hazy white numbers will appear. You can set a coordinate, frequency or keyword manually by clicking on these numbers, but it is easier to store the coordinate, frequency or keyword on your display, and then click the small white dot underneath the number display that corresponds to the coordinates or frequency you wish to set.

For example, if I have coordinates 75:71:N and 83:88:N saved to my display (in that order), then when I go up to a power relay I can click the first white dot to beam the power to 75:71:N, and I can click the second white dot to beam it to 83:88:N. The last dot (the one on the right side) always stores the actual shown coordinates, keyword or frequency.

Below: A picture of the config screen of a teleporter, the numbers are the co-ordinates it is currently set to (76,56,S), the two small dots to the left are stored co-ordinates and the one to the right is the dot that stores the current co-ordinates.

Keywords and Interaction

Many tokens have keywords associated with them. For example, a door has both a frequency and a keyword, allowing you to add complex interaction systems to that door. If there is a nearby Proximity sensor you can set it and the door to the same frequency. If you then add a keyword to the door you now have a remote control door. Each player has a last name given to them based on the name of their settlement. If you set the door keyword to the settlement's last name the door will only open for members of that settlement.

This technique can also be used to link a Radar tower or Proximity sensor to a Blaster turret or Explosives. See the tutorial on Setting up your defenses for more details on this.

Once a frequency and, if desired, a keyword is set on certain objects (Cable Relays, Power Wire) you are able to change the coordinates that these things point to using the radio.

Setting a Keyword

Double click on the keyword field, which is the one on the bottom for those tokens and items that use them. Type your desired keyword and press enter. You can also store a keyword by typing key:"yourkeyword" into the chat interface. Once you have a keyword set you will then have a tiny button under the keyword field on the item that you can click to automatically enter your stored keyword.

Below: An image of the config screen of a power wire, the first row is for entering a keyword, the second for entering the co-ordinates for first half of the power beam, the third is for setting the co-ordinates of the second half of the beam, and the fourth is for entering a frequency that the power wire should listen to, the keyword and frequency are just for manipulating the power wire remotely.

Configuring a Teleporter

Teleporter config screens only have one configurable coordinate. Set this coordinate to the desired teleport location.

Setting two teleporters in a loop (Teleporter X points at Teleporter Y, Teleporter Y points at Teleporter X) can cause an infinite teleport loop, and as such should not be used.

Configuring a Power Reflector

Cable Relays can split their input power to two coordinates, as shown by the image on the left. They also have a configurable frequency so that you can remotely rewire power. Useful when putting relays high above the base when you need good line of sight.

The Cable Relay config screen can be seen on the image to the left of this text.

To configure the Relay to power one building or other relay, simply input the desired coordinate into both coordinate boxes, if you wish to split the power beam, then enter the two different coordinates.
