The Power Deposit is, essentially, a large capacitor. Power fed into the power deposit can then be routed to any other structure that requires power. When empty, there are no blue bars at its sides. If it's in usage, then the blue bars show the status of the charge remaining within the deposit.

A good usage of the power deposit is to use it as wind energy storage, as wind turbines generate no power at certain times of the day.
