Tokens are items that you find in the wilderness and AI settlements, on top of altars. To take one just jump over it. They are used to add new features to your settlement. They are found progressively in some kind of "tech tree", while it has some randomness after a certain point. Sometimes you take two tokens from one altar.

If you are not part of a settlement, the only type of token you can pick up is a monolith token.
